About Me
![]()
Sorry may well be the hardest word, but writing about yourself is certainly the hardest string of sentences and paragraphs.
Still it could be worse, this could be a CV, and we all know that they’re a nightmare.
Personal
So, i’m a rapidly approaching 30 (probably there by the time you read this) graduate in Media Technology and Production who somehow fell into a career in web design. I’m based in West Yorkshire in the north of the UK but travel around the country with my job.
I’ve always been interested in HTML and about 3 years ago the penny finally dropped about the power of CSS and how it could all be put together in a standards based, accessible way. I’ve been a rabid standardista, boring people stupid on accessibility and standards ever since.
Work
I’ve spent the last 6 or so years working for 2 ad agencies, my current job is as a “Digital Strategist”, a job title that usually causes people to make an odd face and say something like, “and that is?”
Essentially, I work with clients to develop their online strategy, working out what their site needs to achieve and the best way to get there, allied to a programme of traffic driving and building through digital advertising and marketing.
It should be noted that any opinions expressed on this site are my own and not necessarily shared by my employer.
Interests
Outside work, i’m into my second year of growing my own veg on an allotment on the outskirts of Bradford, I blog, but not nearly often enough and I spend far too long in front of a PC noodling away at something or other.
This site
While i’m very keen on standards compliance and accessibility, if you’ve taken a look at the code of this site and are about to use it as a stick to beat me with, please take a breath and pause. I’m aware of it, i’m working to improve it, this is the first site i’ve put together using Wordpress and i’m slowly getting used to its idiosyncrasies and the rather distributed way it builds pages, not least the way adding a simple plugin can move the goalposts considerably.
Oh..and the name skiptotheend?, well for those who haven’t guessed, it’s a quote from one of the best pieces of British television in the past 20 years, Spaced. Specifically it’s about 2 minutes in to Episode 1 of Series 1, why not go off to Youtube and watch it, better still buy the DVD, every minute is comedy gold.
