Well what a great week I had in Amsterdam with Dave and Michelle. We flew with Jet2 which was reasuringly cheap and uneventful. No delays or hassle. Then we stayed in a youth hostel, which while it was a bit basic was comfortable and had a really nice chilled out basement bar. Quite a few cute american students too. Shame most of them were using their experience of Europe to down as much booze and smoke as much weed as possible before they went home. As one of them said, “This is my last chance ever, when I get home i’ll have to get a job and they’ll want to random drug test me.” Sad. ;-(
The days were spent visiting loads of museums and galleries and on one of the nights we went to see Boom Chicago which was a great laugh (good food too).
Also hired bikes and rode round the vondelpark and town…which was scary at first but quite exhilirating once you get the hang of terrorising pedestrians in cycle lanes!
Best museum was probably the Steidlijk CS (Contemporary Art) if only because I got to see an original Roy Lichtenstein pop art piece and a cool Keith Haring too.
